The Heating PeopleOur recommended installer for the North West
Heat Geek Elite and Vaillant Advance installers from Southport, designing and fitting air source heat pumps across Liverpool, Manchester, Cheshire and North Wales.
Looking for a heat pump installer in the North West? We recommend The Heating People. They are Heat Geek Elite and Vaillant Advance installers, members of the Guild of Master Heat Engineers, and they apply for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant for you.
The Heating People are heating and heat pump specialists with their head office in Southport, working across Merseyside, Greater Manchester, Cheshire and North Wales. They're a trading name of Mark Knowles Plumbing and Heating, so there are decades of experience behind every job.
Heat pumps are their main focus. Liam, their resident Elite Heat Geek, leads the heat pump team, and every system starts with room-by-room heat loss calculations rather than counting radiators.
The Heating People fit Vaillant aroTHERM air source heat pumps, and have installed the aroTHERM plus from 5kW to 10kW across the North West. Every option comes with controls and system protection.

Cheshire
Six months of research, one clear choice
After more than six months reading up on heat pumps, this homeowner chose Liam to survey and design their system. A Vaillant aroTHERM plus and a new Vaillant cylinder now keep a family of four at a steady 20°C, and it's so quiet you have to stand in front of it to check it's running.

Warrington
420% efficiency over a year
A 7kW aroTHERM plus replaced an old gas boiler, designed after a full heat loss survey to run at a 45°C flow temperature. Over its first year it ran at 420% efficiency, and The Heating People handled the £7,500 grant.

Oil boiler to a 10kW heat pump
A large detached home with no mains gas swapped its oil boiler for a 10kW aroTHERM plus. A room-by-room heat loss survey shaped the design, and some radiators were upsized so it runs at a low flow temperature, with 350 to 400% efficiency expected.

A 1960s semi on its existing radiators
A typical 1960s cavity-wall semi moved from gas to a 7kW aroTHERM plus. Designing for a 45°C flow temperature meant the existing radiators stayed with only minimal upgrades, for an expected seasonal efficiency of around 390%.

FAQs
Common questions about The Heating People
Can The Heating People get me the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant?
Yes. The Heating People apply for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant on your behalf and take it straight off your quote. It's £7,500 off an air source heat pump in England and Wales, or £9,000 if your home is heated by oil or LPG with no mains gas, until March 2027.
Which areas do The Heating People cover?
The Heating People have their head office in Southport and install heat pumps across Liverpool, Manchester, Cheshire, Warrington, St Helens, Southport and North Wales. If you're nearby but not on that list, it's worth asking.
Are The Heating People Heat Geek Elite installers?
Yes. The Heating People are Heat Geek Elite installers and part of Heat Geek's Assured heat pump installation programme. Liam, their resident Elite Heat Geek, leads the heat pump design work.
Will I need new radiators for a heat pump?
Not always. In Urmston, The Heating People designed a heat pump to run at 45°C so the existing radiators stayed with only minimal upgrades, while a larger North Wales home had some radiators upsized. The room-by-room heat loss survey shows what your home needs.
Do The Heating People still fit boilers?
Yes. Heat pumps are their main focus, but The Heating People also fit ATAG, Vaillant, Worcester Bosch and Viessmann boilers and carry out annual boiler servicing.
Tell us a little about what you need and we will pass your details straight to The Heating People. They will be in touch to talk it through and arrange a survey.
